Loser: Washington Huskies (from No. 5 to No. 12)

The Washington Huskies looked like their College Football Playoff hopes were all but shattered with an ugly 13-7 loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils on the road in Week 7.

They only ran 20 plays and had three three-and-outs in the first half. It was an uncharacteristic night for the Huskies and it came back to haunt them in the end.

Now, Washington has some work to do considering the ho-hum numbers quarterback Jake Browning produced in Week 7. Browning went 17-of-30 with 139 passing yards and no passing touchdowns in the game. It was the first game he was held without a passing touchdown since the Huskies 24-7 loss to Alabama in last year’s College Football Playoff.

To make matters worse for the Washington Huskies, they lost key contributors on both sides of the ball in Week 7 due to injury. They lost left tackle Trey Adams and cornerback Jordan Miller for the rest of the season. Adams suffered a torn ACL while Miller suffered a broken ankle.

The Huskies will need to fix the chinks in the armor and the little mistakes on special teams to get back on track. Injuries continue to plague them but they’ll need to find some replacements in a hurry to keep their playoff hopes alive.
