2. Michigan holds Penn State to 24 points

Penn State has not scored less than 33 points at home this season. And, only one opponent held them to less than 45, which was the Pittsburgh Panthers. Penn State and Pitt are a tough in-state rivalry that normally keep things close (not really this year with the 33-14 Penn State win).

Yet, the Nittany Lions have not come close to facing a defense like Michigan. Iowa and Northwestern are tough, but the Wolverines might have the best defense in the Big 10, if not the entire country.

The only reason that the Wolverines are even ranked in the AP Top 25 is the defense. That’s the reason they defeated the Florida Gators, Purdue Boilermakers, Indiana, etc. If Michigan’s success continues it’s because of head coach Jim Harbaugh‘s defense.

Stopping the Penn State offense, which has talent and depth at almost every position, is going to be a tall task. Penn State even has an All-American talent at tight end in Mike Gesicki. Not to mention the rest of the offense.
