1. Sam Ehlinger can’t keep up with the Pokes

Sam Ehlinger has brought an entirely new aspect to this Texas offense under first-year head coach Tom Herman. Sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele has seemingly lost his starting job for good. And, with good reason.

Texas has stayed competitive in every game they’ve played in this year. The loss to the Maryland Terrapins does seem like a long gone memory now. The only two losses since then came against two teams ranked in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll in the Sooners and USC Trojans.

Herman has this ability to stay close with top 10 teams, going back to his days with the Houston Cougars. It is going to be quite the coaching battle with Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy. The Pokes are a tough team to beat the few weeks after they’ve lost a game.

More than anything, the tall task that Ehlinger faces to keep up with a team that can easily score 50 points is daunting. You’d think Texas would have to hold the Pokes under 35 points in order to walk away with a win in this matchup.
