1. The turnover battle continues to be an issue

The Rams came in at 59th in the nation in turnover margin, with ten turnovers on both sides of the ball. Stevens has been pretty careful with the football up to this point, but a defense forcing under a turnover and a half per game hasn’t led the Rams to a solid season in the turnover department.

Again, it’s not necessarily the fault of the offense as much as it is the struggles of a mediocre defense. Stevens entered this matchup against the Lobos with 18 touchdowns to only six interceptions. The Rams have seen four fumbles outside of Stevens’ control, but have failed to make up for them on the defensive side of the ball.

This game was no different as the Rams were only able to force one turnover. While this wouldn’t usually be a bad thing, Colorado State will not be able to consistently count on their offense and defense outside of a heavier turnover presence.

The Rams will be presented with a few matchups in which they could get away with a minimal turnover margin, but it will take a stronger turnover presence from their defense if they want to run the table down the stretch. The Rams will look to get back on track as they face off against the Air Force Falcons next weekend.
