1. Josh Jackson has the tools to be an elite quarterback

Jackson’s numbers weren’t eye-popping. The freshman completed 10-of-20 passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns. He now has 16 touchdowns on the season and has thrown for a score in every game. Saturday’s modest numbers were his lowest (percentage-wise) of the season.

Having thrown only four interceptions on the year, Jackson continues to give the Hokies solid play under center. His mistake-free game only adds to the youngster’s confidence. Fuente has to feel good about the play of his signal-caller.

Going forward, Jackson will be asked to do more. Peeking ahead to the showdown in South Florida against Miami in two weeks, Jackson will have to make plays – some with his legs – to give the Hokies a chance to come out victorious. Although, through seven games, one can’t be impressed with the way the freshman has composed himself and led this Virginia Tech team.
