1. The Badgers continue to ‘badger’ opponents with their defense

It’s no secret, that in order to win in the Big Ten, teams must have a solid defense. Wisconsin continues to clamp down on opponents despite the fact that injuries may be starting to pile up.

Already without stand-out linebacker Jack Cichy who is out for the year with a torn ACL, Wisconsin lost linebacker Chris Orr Saturday to a right arm injury. Safety and leading tackler D’Cota Dixon also left briefly, but later returned. Wisconsin can’t afford any more injuries to its defensive unit.

Maryland could muster only 268 yards and one offensive touchdown. Six of Wisconsin’s seven opponents have been held to 17 points or less. That is a recipe for success.

Finally, the Wisconsin defense has now scored 4 touchdowns on the season. The Badgers opened Saturday’s win with a 54-yard interception return for a touchdown by T.J. Edwards. If they continue to create offense with their defense, the Badgers will continue to notch wins in the win column.
