A-. . QB. Penn State. TRACE MCSORLEY

Trace McSorley was effective through the air and on the ground. He executed the game plan mostly to perfection and was only sacked twice.

McSorley seemed to get better as the game progressed. After the Lions punched Michigan in the mouth early with two scores, on the Lions third possession and driving again, McSorley threw an interception which jump started Michigan to eventually pull within one point. I won’t dock McSorley too much for the turnover as both he and tight end Mike Gesicki were not on the same page.

Other than the one miscue though, McSorley played well the rest of the way. He finished the night 17 of 26, 282 yards, a touchdown and the interception. When he wasn’t slicing up the Michigan secondary, he was gashing them on the ground. He carried the ball 11 times for 76 yards and crossed the goal line three times.

When everything is clicking, the Lion offense is powerful and is hard to beat. Many thought coming into the game, it would be up to McSorley to deliver since Michigan’s defense would likely bottle up Barkley. Turns out both were pretty outstanding.
