Freshman Kellen Mond has started to turn the corner, racking up over 1,500 yards total offense on the year. Mond was expected to sit on the sidelines and learn this year in College Station, but was thrust into duty in the season opener.

Injuries have sidelined both Jake Hubenak and Nick Starkel, and it now appears as if Mond will be the man going forward. It hasn’t been a perfect situation for the Aggies, but the future looks good with Mond at the controls of the offense.

Best Game

The San Antonio native was at his best in a thrilling 50-43 overtime victory last month over Arkansas. Mond completed 14 of 27 for 216 yards with two touchdowns, rushing for another 109 yards, including a 79-yard scamper.

Mond also had his first career 300-yard passing game, but that came against Louisiana Monroe, as he completed 21 of 34 with three scores.

Worst Game

Since he wasn’t expecting to play, we’ll let the season opener vs. UCLA slide and instead nit-pick on the most recent appearance for Mond.

Even though Texas A&M was the winner, Mond completed just 8-of-24 passes for 180 yards with an interception vs. Florida two weeks ago. His quarterback rating of 88 was the first time since that loss to UCLA that he failed to record at least 114.
