Big Ten Football: Ranking the best uniforms in the conference
8. Purdue Boilermakers
The Boilermakers have been known to mix it up from time to time and stray away from their black and gold look. At home, it usually is the same thing game in and game out with the gold helmets, black jerseys and gold uniforms — not a bad look, by any means.
Sometimes their own creativity can get in their way, however, as they stray away from their true colors and go completely off trail. It does not happen often, but at times the Boilermakers will release grey and black combinations that might not be the best idea.
One thing Purdue does have going for them is perhaps the best looking helmets in the conference. Check out the Boilermakers in one of their upcoming road games and catch their chrome helmets.
7. Michigan Wolverines
In fairness, credit has got to be given to the University of Michigan for taking a risk to stray away from their traditional maize and blue look when they took on the Florida Gators in week one — a game that felt more like an NFL Thursday Night ‘Color Rush’ game.
Since partnering with the Jordan brand, the Wolverines have not experienced many changes to their look, at least in football, so it was a nice sight to see them go away from the maize and blue. However, in this instance, variety does not look so good on them and having a solid color scheme already can let them get away with failing to mix it up.
Do not be surprised if it is awhile before the Wolverines wear anything different again, it is not going to happen very frequently.
