Big Ten Football: Ranking the best uniforms in the conference
6. Ohio State Buckeyes
Once in blue moon, the Buckeyes will surprise the college football world and come out with something completely eye-popping and frankly, different from their actual colors.
The combination of scarlet and grey is one of the most recognized and unique styles in all of college football, and for that the Buckeyes are listed in the top half of the Big Ten. Yes, it is a traditional look, but at the same time they have done a great job as establishing the look as their own without any real shake up or even logo.
The concept of helmet stickers seems to be a long lost method of reward and the fact that in 2017 the Buckeyes utilize so strongly is commendable. Also, tip your caps to the university and program for noticing big games when they see them and adjusting their look accordingly. As Penn State comes into town this weekend, the Buckeyes made sure to welcome them with a brand new look.
Now that’s a great look.
5. Indiana Hoosiers
The Hoosiers are not a team that mixes up their color scheme often, but one thing they do is implement a variety of different helmets to add flavor to their style. Often using the same maroon-looking red paired with white, various helmet patterns add uniqueness to their team.
As pictured above, this helmet was used last week on the road in East Lansing against Michigan State, but they have also used many other versions — such as the silver and red striped helmet or simply the classic logo with different color patterns.
They certainly do not blow anyone away with their eye-popping colors, but one thing is for sure — it is always a mystery in what helmet the Hoosiers are going to come out with every week.
