4. Illinois Fighting Illini

Any time a team sports an all-white, or all-color, anything β€” chances are it is going to get some love. Illinois is another team that has a wide variety of looks and style and often times combines their many options in both the helmet and uniform category to create different variants.

This weekend, the Illini will be wearing in all-gray edition in honor of homecoming versus Wisconsin. In previous games, they have mixed and match their blue and orange colors in different schemes and paired them with eye-popping helmets that display different variants of the logo.

The blue and orange meshing together on the helmet brings a new and unique style to the helmets and offers a nice color splash to their gray jerseys and pants.

3. Minnesota Golden Gophers

The Gophers do a nice job in using their not-so-appealing color scheme and turning them into creative combinations. What used to be a much more brighter maroon color, the program has re-branded their colors to fit a more appealing look.

Minnesota will rarely use the same color scheme in back to back weeks and have used multiple helmet colors to complement their patterns in a given week.

The team did have a small hiccup in one of their games this year where they actually had the gopher mascot’s face blown up to fit their helmet, but at least the effort was there to implement something new. Keep your eyes on the Gophers as they will often use their two main colors to create a new clash or come out one game with all the same β€” a good mix of variety week in and week out.
