5. Sam Ehlinger is banged up

The Texas freshman quarterback had a head injury late in the game last week. This is compounded by the fact that he appeared to have a head injury the previous week against Oklahoma as well. I would be shocked if Ehlinger played in this game. For the sake of his own health and future of Texas football, he should be held out.

His production will certainly be missed in passing game as he has averaged 7.4 yards per attempt. To say nothing about his ability to move the pocket and make plays on the ground. Ehlinger has accounted for nine total touchdowns this year and is the future of program.

Ehlinger has been the difference-maker in the three Texas wins. If Ehlinger is sidelined then the quarterback duties would fall to either Shane Buechele or Jerod Heard. Buechele started the season as the starter but was soon replaced by Ehlinger.

With either Buechele or Heard at quarterback it would significantly change the way the Texas offense would operate.
