3. Emergence of Charlie Brewer

Baylor was struggling offensively for most of the game against West Virginia. The Bears were down 38-13 going in to fourth quarter. Charlie Brewer led a furious come back that ended with Baylor being a two-point conversion away from sending game to overtime. Brewer brought an element to game that was not there with Zach Smith.

The mobility of Brewer changed how the West Virginia defense attacked Baylor. This new wrinkle opened up passing game with was evident in 52-yard touchdown pass to Trestan Ebner on Brewer’s first drive. He showed what the future of Baylor football could be.

Matt Rhule has stated that as of right now Zach Smith would be starter against Texas. But he did stress that we could see both quarterbacks in the game. Rhule would definitely be smart to have a package that included Brewer to take advantage of his athleticism.

Whether it’s Zach Smith or Brewer, one thing is for certain, they are both healthy — which is more than Texas can say at this point.
