SEC football has been up and down this season, but contenders are beginning to separate themselves. Here are three teams on upset alert this week.
Last week saw five SEC teams on a bye week. Obviously, those teams are rested and back in action on Saturday, but let’s take a look at what happened this past week in the Southeastern Conference.
Alabama established it’s dominance once again, beating Tennessee 45-7. This comes as no shock as the Vols have struggled mightily this season. All this game did was further prove that Alabama has no problem continuing to run up the score on anyone and everyone. The only team in the SEC to stand toe to toe with them was Texas A&M two weeks ago.
Same score, different stadium. Mississippi State took down Kentucky also 45-7. The Wildcats started the season in promising fashion, but they have fizzled out and the Bulldogs took advantage of that.
Auburn basically put the final nail in Arkansas season and likely Bret Bielema’s career in Fayetteville. The Tigers beat the Hogs 52-20, bouncing back from a heartbreaking loss against LSU a week before. Speaking of LSU, they took full advantage of Ole Miss’ lack of run defense and ran all over them. Derrius Guice had a huge night — 276 yards to be exact. The Tigers won 40-24.
Finally, Mizzou took down Idaho. Although, it was a lot closer for awhile than it should have been. Now that we are all caught up, let’s take a look at the teams on upset alert this week.
