What went wrong for the Seminoles?

It would be a shorter post if I mentioned what has gone right for the Seminoles this season. Very few things can be viewed as positive. What went wrong is a much longer list.

For starters, the loss against Alabama in the opening week was disappoint, not devastating. Alabama was the number one team in the country so people could forgive the Seminoles, who were number three at the time, for dropping a game to the Tide. However, losing starting quarterback Deondre Francois to a season ending knee injury was bad. We now know it was a devastating blow to the team.

Francois’ injury was only the tip of the iceburg. The offensive line has been a rotating mess due to their injuries. Same thing could be said for the defensive front. Head coach Jimbo Fisher has had to plug in guys at nearly every position along the roster. Francois has had two more join him on the season ending injury list. Starting running back Jacques Patrick and guard Landon Dickerson also are sidelined for the year.

Every team in the nation deals with bumps, bruises and injuries. But the Seminoles right now are running an infirmary in addition to fielding a football team or something resembling one. All the injuries have thrown everything out of sync. Even in their two victories against Wake Forest and Duke, it was a struggle just to win close games.
