1. Brandon Wimbush is making his passes count

Brandon Wimbush kicked off the 2017 season with a bang, combining for 290 yards and three touchdowns with only one turnover. However, he struggled in subsequent weeks, connecting on only one touchdown against the likes of Georgia, Boston College, and Michigan State. However, he has managed to improve as of late, throwing for seven touchdowns over his last three games.

While the yardage hasn’t been there for Wimbush, he has proved his effectiveness outside of the scoresheet. Wimbush’s clutch factor has begun to impress lately as he’s been more effective on third downs and touchdown passes.

With one of the nation’s most dominant backfields in his pocket, head coach Brian Kelly hasn’t needed to rely on Wimbush to do it all. So while the junior won’t be leading the nation in yards anytime soon, he has proved more than capable of leading an Irish program to a much-needed rebound after such a disappointing 2016 campaign.

Wimbush and the Irish aren’t likely to break the mold against an average Wake Forest team next week, setting Wimbush up for another big day on the ground. The first-year signal caller has shown himself to be a great addition to the team, and his ability to enhance his passing game throughout the season has instilled much confident in his newfound head coach.
