Washington Football: 5 Reasons the Huskies beat UCLA Bruins
By Dean Mullen
What run defense?
While the Huskies like to throw the ball in the air, this game may feature the running backs. UCLA’s running defense is simply horrible. UCLA is DEAD LAST in rush defense. The Bruins average 303.4 yards a game. The other rushing categories are anemic as well.
If the UCLA Bruins can’t stop the Huskies running the ball this game, it’s gonna be lopsided. Also, UCLA is second worst at yards per carry at 6.1 yards a game. This all sets up to be a thrashing for #purplereign. Together with the rush defense and the other four reasons should be enough. But the worse is yet to come.
Washington has the perfect personnel to take advantage of this deficiency. Despite not receiving the hype of Bryce Love or Royce Freeman, Myles Gaskin is one of the better running backs in the Pac-12. He’s a grinder that moves the chains. Those first down runs, against UCLA, have the potential to turn into more explosive plays.
