Nebraska Football: 3 takeaways from comeback win over Purdue

2. Riley remains on hot-seat, but win sure helps
Had Nebraska lost this game, the pitch forks would have been out in Lincoln. New Huskers’ AD Bill Moos was in attendance and has officially begun the process of evaluating the football program. Moos couldn’t have liked what he saw for three quarters.
Nebraska does not look to be getting better. The Huskers entered the game on a bye week. Having two weeks to prepare did nothing early on. Purdue was the sharper team. They executed better for three quarters. They just didn’t finish.
The final four games will determines Riley’s future at Nebraska. He’s said repeatedly that he likes this team. Many young players are gaining experience. But is progress evident? That’s the key question. Nebraska fans are still stinging from a 42-point drubbing at the hands of Ohio State two weeks ago.
It also must be noted, that former Nebraska quarterback Scott Frost has Central Florida humming. Frost, who led the Huskers to the 1997 National Championship is the name at the top of most Huskers’ fans wish list. They’d love to see the former Husker return and lead Nebraska back to national prominence.
Riley is behind the eight-ball. Saturday’s win will keep the wolves at bay for another week.
