The role of spoiler

It’s not too often that we begin November and Florida State has no real chance of winning the ACC Atlantic title.

The Seminoles, though, can play the role of spoiler like so many others have against them with a key game at Clemson coming up on Nov. 11.

Florida State can gain some much-needed momentum this weekend with a win over Syracuse, setting them up for the trip to Death Valley. Clemson also has a big-time battle with division-leader NC State on Saturday to focus on and could come out of that feeling several different ways.

The FSU coaching staff will focus on the Orange first and foremost, but you can bet they are looking at film and trying to find weaknesses in Clemson they can exploit.

For that to happen, freshman running back Cam Akers will need to be the focal point to the offense. Akers was a high school running back and even completed a pass in the loss to Boston College. Maybe FSU looks to use the “Wildcat” to get him in open space, or maybe they just stick to grinding the game down with Akers.
