NFL Mock Draft 2018: Updated first round after Week 9
Death. Taxes. The Browns’ quarterback problems. Some things are inevitable. While the safest thing for Cleveland to do would be to role with Saquon Barkley they might not get the chance to grab the Penn State star. That will leave them in a too-familiar place, at the top of the first round in need of a quarterback.
The Browns have already flip-flopped between Kevin Hogan and Deshone Kizer as their starter this season. By the time the season has ended the odds of that situation being solved seem bleak at best. That’s part of the reason that the Browns will be too intrigued at the potential of this new crop of passer to avoid the temptation this time around.
While Sam Darnold was the early-appointed top pick before the season his recent struggles have given Josh Rosen time to maneuver into the top spot. Rosen left Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury but still leads the Pac-12 in passing yards and has had plenty of deficits to air it out this season.
The UCLA defense is not good and Rosen will have plenty of time to add to his stats and his resume before the draft arrives.
