NFL Mock Draft 2018: Updated first round after Week 9
North Carolina State stunned many college football fans when they upset Florida State and Louisville early in the season. Neither of those teams appears to be living up to their preseason expectations, but the Wolfpack beat them and Syracuse. As a result, they sit atop the ACC Atlantic.
While the results might not have been foreseen, the production of defensive end Bradley Chubb has been right on schedule. Chubb has 13 tackles for a loss and 6.5 sacks in 2017.
Chubb checks in at 6-foot-4, 275 pounds. The quickness at which he can get to the quarterback is unrivaled in the college ranks. Beyond that, most of those sacks and plays in the backfield have come in big games and in big moments. That’s who he is, a play maker.
Tampa Bay has had one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL in 2017. They’ve had to rely on outscoring the other team rather than shutting them down. While their offense has the talent to do it, that’s not a recipe for extended success. The Bucs are going to have to balance that out with a pick to strengthen their defense and Chubb fits the bill.
