Texas A&M Football: 5 Overreactions to Loss to Mississippi State

4. Aggies might have a wide receiver problem
With Nick Starkel healthy, the Aggies will be back and forth between quarterbacks at least as they try to right the ship. However, it would seem that Texas A&M may have a bigger issue on their hands, one that doesn’t have to do with the quarterback at all and one they haven’t had in years: a receiver problem.
On Saturday night against the Bulldogs, the Aggies had a total of five drops on the night. It seemed like a heck of a lot more though. At least three of those were dropped touchdown passes, ones that could have changed the game significantly.
Upperclassmen receivers — Christian Kirk specifically — didn’t seem to be on his ‘A’ game and that effected the entire team. The young guys couldn’t seem to get in a grove and even when Starkel entered the game, missed passes and lack of communication kept the Aggies out of the game.
Whether it is a quarterback issue, a receiver issue or a coaching issue, the Aggies need to get it fixed and fast or this season could be on a slippery slope once again.
