Playstation Fiesta Bowl

Playstation Fiesta Bowl: Notre Dame (at-large) vs. Oklahoma (at-large)
Where: University of Phoenix Stadium (Glendale, Ariz.)
When: Dec. 30 at 4:00 p.m. ET on ESPN
Last week’s projection: Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin

While this projection just hours fro the first top four being revealed, one team that I don’t have in mine is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish who are currently 7-1 on the season. While they’ve clearly earned the chances to put themselves in position to be considered a playoff team at this point, I give some teams a slight edge over Notre Dame and the other one-loss teams, including the opponent for Notre Dame in this week’s projection.

That team would be the Oklahoma Sooners.

Now before you guys all start whining and complaining that both OU and Notre Dame deserve some love to be in the playoff but there are too many teams for so few spots. Someone or some teams are going to have to get the shaft as rough as it is to see. However, one thing that does help in this sense is winning and this week is a golden opportunity for each to justify their place in the top four.

Week 10 outlook: The first of possibly two Bedlam games begin this week with Oklahoma traveling to Stillwater, Okla., and facing the Oklahoma Sooners. Winning against Oklahoma State would all but give the Sooners a spot in the Big 12 title game and firmly in the one-loss team to the playoff discussion. Notre Dame gets surprising ACC opponent Wake Forest this weekend.

The Fighting Irish have two more games after Wake Forest that will determine not only their New Year’s Six fate but their CFP fate as well.
