Let’s bring in some analytics. In the new AP Poll, they put Wisconsin in the Top 5. But has Wisconsin played like a Top 5 team? No. Here are some examples of teams with one-loss that have played better than undefeated Wisconsin.

Penn State and Ohio State’s rank third and fourth respectively in team efficiency. Oklahoma, the team that beat Ohio State, has an overall team efficiency that ranks 13th in the nation. Fellow Big 12 team Oklahoma State is ranked seventh.

Then there is Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are ranked fifth. And Clemson, the team with the worst loss out of the six, has an overall team efficiency that ranks eighth. What is undefeated Wisconsin’s overall team efficiency ranking? 14th. They may be undefeated but these other teams have played better than the Badgers.
