1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama should be in this slot until they lose. They had a bye week, but they will be back in action on Saturday against No. 19 LSU. Alabama is the team that is gets the benefit of doubt until proven otherwise, but it seems to be on a collision course to face Georgia in the SEC Championship.

Sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts has been solid this season, but not great like expected. He is 95-for-151 passing for 1,223 yards, nine touchdowns and one interception. The key stat for Nick Saban and the crew is that one pick.

While that is great, Hurts has only had one game with over 200 yards this year. Just like JT Barrett did for Ohio State against Penn State, you have to respect their passing game, but until Hurts has a big passing game against a top-tier team, the teams with talent will sell out to stop the great Alabama running game and make the quarterback throw to beat them. If he can achieve that his team will be fine, but if not, this great defense will have their backs against the wall when the games get real.

Next: Who got snubbed in the first CFP Rankings?

Their defense only allows 9.8 points per game and the Tide have talent on all three levels of the unit as they always do. Will the offense do enough in the big games to help them out? That’s my only question.
