5. Freshman running back Jaylin Bradley will emerge

Bradley earned his first extensive playing time of the season Saturday at Purdue. He didn’t disappoint. The true freshman showed good burst, and finished runs when Nebraska needed them in the second half. He still struggles in pass protection and blitz pickups, but he grew up a lot on Saturday.

Bradley’s 42 rushing yards led the way against Purdue. His runs of 20 and 13 yards in the second half were the only real lengthy gains the Huskers had all night. Riley was impressed with his burst and you could read into his comments after the game, that Bradley could see more time moving forward.

Nebraska is beat-up at running back. Early season starter Tre Bryant is done for the season after undergoing knee surgery last week. Mikale Wilbon is battling a nagging ankle injury. Devine Ozigbo has played well, but the Huskers need another threat. Bradley is fresh (although he tweaked an ankle on Saturday), has good hands, and will gain confidence with more playing time. Expect Riley and offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf to get him on the field in November.

If Bradley can step-up, he gives the Huskers another threat running and catching. Lee will get him the ball in space and he can be a play maker. Should that occur, Nebraska can win three of its final four game.
