2. Clemson’s schedule is helping them grow stronger

The schedule did lighten up for Clemson a bit after a span of facing three ranked opponents in four weeks earlier in the season. Clemson did handle it well up to this point, including a convincing 31-17 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies.

To finish the season, Clemson faces the Florida State Seminoles, South Carolina Gamecocks, and an FCS opponent in The Citadel. The matchup with The Citadel is the annual cupcake game that the Tigers have before taking on South Carolina.

This matchup with NC State is one of the toughest games that the Tigers had on tap in 2017. NC State nearly defeated Clemson last season, but a missed field goal cost the Wolfpack a chance to defeating them.

If the Wolfpack had been fully healthy against Notre Dame, the result might have been different. Yet, that was in the past and NC State was ready to turn its attention to this contest. That looked to pay off in the end.
