2. Norvell a hot prospect on the coaching circuit

In his first head coaching position, Mike Norvell has proven his talents leading a program.

After several years as a position coach and coordinator, along with a run as the assistant head coach at Arizona State, Memphis handed Norvell the keys and let him build a winner in the American.

After going 8-5 last year and making a bowl game, Norvell has the Tigers already at the school-record total for victories with two – and maybe as many as four – games remaining in the season.

Norvell found the right player to lead the offense in Ferguson when he plucked him out of community college, but the former University of Central Arkansas wide receiver has done more than just that.

On Friday night, with rumors swirling regarding Norvell possibly taking another job, the Tigers came out and handled business to set up a huge showdown with SMU for the division title next week.

Tulsa was a past coaching spot for Norvell, as he held several positions with the Golden Hurricane between 2007-1010.

Expect his name to continue to be mentioned for the time being, especially considering his salary is under $2 million per year through 2021.
