Iowa State is the real deal

The Iowa State Cyclones are a really good football team, without question. Head coach Matt Campbell’s vastly improved the Cyclones since he took over in November of 2015, and opponents are starting to take notice of their success.

After giving up 20 points in the first half, the Cyclones flipped the script at halftime. They came out in the second half and hung 16 points on the ‘Eers, dominating them in virtually every aspect of the football game.

Wide receiver Allen Lazard was a problem for whatever Mountaineer tried covering him, but he causes fits for every defender in the country. He finished the game with only five catches for 49 yards, but his touchdown to open the second half made a statement that the Cyclones weren’t giving up.

The Iowa State defense didn’t play great if you’re simply checking the box score, but they shut out the Mountaineers in the second half entirely. If these Cyclones were still being led by Jacob Park, who knows what could’ve been in the 2017 season.
