ACC Football Power Rankings: Miami closing in on division title
By Dana Becker
Most believed the Hurricanes were still a year away from competing for the ACC title, but Mark Richt has his young team believing.
Miami came into last Saturday’s Coastal showdown with Virginia Tech as the underdogs at home despite being unbeaten on the year. That didn’t sit too well with the ‘Canes, as they came out and jumped all over the Hokies in earning a 28-10 victory.
Travis Homer and Malik Rosier ran for a combined 179 yards and two touchdowns, with Rosier throwing two more scores and racking up almost 200 yards. Miami’s defense also picked off two passes and held Virginia Tech to just 102 yards on the ground.

With the division title nearly clinched, the Hurricanes will focus on improving their standing in the national rankings when they welcome Notre Dame to town this Saturday night. The Hurricanes would have clinched if Virginia lost to Georgia Tech, but it’s nearly sewn up at this point.
