College Football Playoff 2017: Projected Top 4 for Week 11
By Jesse Smith
3. Notre Dame
Notre Dame handled business against a solid Wake Forest team, a team they were supposed to beat and they did 48-37. All wasn’t rosy because they gave up 587 total yards against Wake Forest. They gashed the Fighting Irish defense in the passing and running game (348 yards passing and 239 yards rushing).
This is something the defense can’t make a normal outing, if they want to stay in the running for the College Football Playoff. They have No. 10 Miami, Navy and No. 21 North Carolina State still on deck so they won’t have time to rest on this victory.
Junior quarterback Brandon Wimbush went 15-for-30 passing for 280 yards and one touchdown. Wimbush also had 12 carries for 110 yards and two touchdowns. He had 390 total yards and three touchdowns in Week 10.
The junior has been a big play guy all season, mainly with his feet, but when he is accurate can keep the defense honest with his arm. He is a good dual threat quarterback, but I think if they make the playoffs he will have to complete more than 51.3 percent of his passes. I think most of the teams in the in the running have the same problem as Notre Dame so it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
