Sugar Bowl (Playoff No. 2)

Sugar Bowl (Playoff No. 2): Georgia (No. 1) vs. Clemson (No. 4)
Where: Mercedes-Benz Superdome (New Orleans, La.)
When: Jan. 1, 2018, at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN
Last week’s projection: Alabama vs. Ohio State

Georgia and Clemson have played some pretty solid ballgames the in the last few seasons so, in a selfish way, I really hope that this matchup holds and we see it as a semifinal. The reigning national champions against arguably one of the most impressive teams this season.

Georgia’s second tough test of the season comes this week with a trip to the loveliest village on the plains. Otherwise known as Auburn University. While that is happening, Clemson will have the struggling Florida State Seminoles at home. This game was supposed to be Clemson’s toughest test of the season by-far and now we’re just wondering how long FSU can keep it watchable. A far cry from what most of us who watch college football would’ve thought at the start of the season.

Week 11 outlook: One undefeated and one team with a loss, at this point in the season you need a win (no matter how pretty or ugly) to just keep your playoff chances alive. A win does that for both but a loss puts one team in danger and another out of the playoff hunt completely. If Georgia remains undefeated and plays and undefeated Alabama then you will more than likely see the winner become the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff while the loser moves to the No. 3 to avoid a rematch in one of the semifinal games. We’re a lot closer to it more than most people think, could be we be a week closer this time next Tuesday?
