Arkansas Football: 5 reasons Bielema’s job can’t be saved

3. No standout seasons yet

Arkansas has yet to get over the hump in the SEC since Bielema took over. His best finish came in 2015, when Arkansas registered eight wins and a bowl victory over head coach Bill Snyder and the Kansas State Wildcats.

That 2015 campaign also saw the Hogs wrap up with a 5-3 record in conference play. Two early losses in that season ruined anything that the Hogs could have done in the major picture of the college football landscape.

Those two losses to the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Toledo Rockets, both coming at home, signaled a lack of preparedness for the start of a season which had high expectations. To Bielema’s credit, he did get his squad back on track the rest of the way.

Every other season for Bielema with the Hogs has either resulted in bowl game at all or barely getting bowl eligible. This season looks no different. Even during that 2015 season, the Hogs could have easily lost three more games during the regular season.
