Arkansas Football: 5 reasons Bielema’s job can’t be saved

1. Good candidates on the open market

Whether it be Iowa State’s Matt Campbell, UCF’s Scott Frost, or Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen, the head coaching market is very fruitful right now. Campbell and Frost seemed destined for greener pastures after this season has concluded.

Some of the teams that seem to be hot on the trail of both Campbell and Frost are the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Texas A&M Aggies, UCLA Bruins, Florida Gators, and Tennessee Volunteers. A lot of high-profile coaching positions are about to be open and Arkansas might join that list.

The time that big programs give a head coach to rebuild is not long at all nowadays. With Alabama’s dominance in the SEC, it does not leave much room for other teams to contend nationally.

There’s at least four teams in the SEC that could have coaching vacancies to fill during the off-season. Arkansas is a high-profile job overall, but not the most attractive in the SEC. The fans in Fayetteville might be starting to think that anything would be better than Bielema, though.
