The Huskies can stop Love

Thankfully for Stanford fans, Love’s injury forced him to miss just one game, as the Cardinal pulled out a 15-14 victory over Oregon State.

His return, though, this past Saturday didn’t go well, as Love was held to a season-low 69 yards in a loss to Washington State. His 4.3 yards per carry would typically be a good number, but for someone who had not averaged less than 8.6 per, it was tough to see.

Love had just 16 carries, and of those 69 yards, 52 came on one run. He did record his 12th touchdown of the season and is now over 1,400 yards, but his Heisman push took a huge hit with the pedestrian performance and loss.

Will things get better this week? Doubtful, as Washington features one of the best rush defenses in the country.

The Huskies allow just 91 yards per game on the ground, a number that actually went up in their 35-point win over Oregon because the Ducks racked up 247 yards rushing.

You can bet that Chris Petersen and his defensive coaches will be working extremely hard this week to bottle up Love and force Stanford to beat them through the air.
