4. Kellen Mond also has a great outing

While Starkel should be the starter for the Aggies moving forward, both quarterbacks got a shot against Auburn. Mond did not perform as well as Starkel, but both should get the opportunity in this game also if Texas A&M takes a good lead early.

The faith that Sumlin has in Mond overall will be tested in Week 11. Mond still has 10 touchdowns total and six interceptions. He did make some big steps early in the season and is still an option for the Aggies over the next couple years.

Sumlin has a rough track record of quarterback management, losing players like Kenny Hill, Kyle Allen, and Kyler Murray all to transfer recently. He needs to be careful with the quarterback situation this time around.

However, Mond does have five total touchdowns and only one turnover in non-conference competition this year. If there’s any game that Sumlin could trust Mond to put up some good numbers through the air, it’s against New Mexico.
