3. McKenzie Milton continues to build his Heisman case

McKenzie Milton remains one of the best quarterbacks in the country after another strong performance against UConn. He kept pace with Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield as one of the two national leaders in passing efficiency as UCF won its ninth game of the 2017 season.

On Saturday, Milton completed 24 of his 36 passing attempts for 311 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He rushed for another 52 yards and a score on 10 carries, before ceding the spot behind center to backup Noah Vedral. It was a characteristic performance in a season filled with success for the UCF starter.

Since coming over from Oregon and taking over as the Knights head coach, Scott Frost has helped Milton improve with each season. The sophomore has been a perfect fit for Frost’s offensive philosophy, completing passes and showcasing his wheels when necessary. With another strong performance, Milton continues to build a national profile.

As other Heisman hopefuls fall by the wayside, Milton continues to make a strong case for an invitation to Manhattan in December. If the Knights keep winning, he could finish as the highest Group of Five star in Heisman voting since Jordan Lynch of Northern Illinois reached the top three in 2013.
