2. Florida was the problem, not Will Grier

The situation at Florida can kindly be described as a mass. Jim McElwain is now out and interim coach Randy Shannon is 0-2 with losses against Missouri and South Carolina. The Gators have juggled three different starting quarterbacks this season and none of them have found any measure of extended success.

Will Grier was 6-0 as the starter at Florida before injuries cut his freshman season short. Whatever drama developed between Grier and Coach McElwain caused the gunslinger to transfer from the program. He’s found a home as West Virginia and he hasn’t missed a beat.

Grier threw 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in his six game stint with the Gators. Since taking over as the Mountaineers starting man he’s thrown for 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His success has to rub just a little salt in the wound for Gators fans who have watched their offense sputter over the last two season.

Florida is in disarray and Grier is in the middle of the best season of his career. Whatever the off field issues that Grier had in Gainesville it’s looking like the decision to let him move on was a poor one for the Gators.
