College Football Playoff Ranking Projections: Top 25 for Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
After getting shut out of the College Football Playoff Top 25 the past few weeks, Michigan will likely make its first appearance of the season. The Wolverines moved to 8-2 in the standings in a 35-10 blowout of Maryland on the road. A young team continues to show improvement with each passing week, and has a shot at 10 wins and even an outside chance of heading to Indianapolis.
Brandon Peters went 9-of-18 for 145 yards and two touchdowns in his third career start, adding a six-yard carry along the way. Chris Evans led the Wolverines in rushing, carrying 15 times for 80 yards and two scores. Maryland racked up 340 total yards of offense, but struggled to reach the endzone against the Michigan defense.
If both Michigan State and Penn State sustain another loss in conference play, it would open the door for the Wolverines to have a shot at the Big Ten East by beating Ohio State. That is the only scenario where Michigan can win the division given losses to the Spartans and Nittany Lions already on the record.
