By Shane Lunnen
After getting blowout at Iowa, the Buckeyes bounced back in a big way against Michigan State, beating the Spartans 48-3. Ohio State now has the inside track to Indianapolis.
Ohio State trounced Michigan State, scoring touchdowns on five of their first six possessions and led at halftime 35-3. The Buckeyes had it in cruise control the rest of the way. JT Barrett threw for two scores and added two more on the ground. Running back Mike Weber had his best game of the season, rushing for 162 yards on only nine carries and scoring on a pair of touchdowns. The defense returned to its old self after being dominated by Iowa. Against the Spartans, the Buckeyes allowed less than 200 yards and forced three turnovers.
Unless something crazy happens, Ohio State should beat Illinois next Saturday. The Game in two weeks will be must see tv and the Buckeyes still have an outside shot at the playoff if they win out and win the Big Ten title.
Wisconsin clinched the Big Ten West for the second season in a row with a defensively dominating win over Iowa. The Badgers also keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Badgers on offense again took awhile to get going, but once they did, it was all over for the Hawkeyes. Wisconsin was suffocating on defense, only allowing 66 yards which is the fewest they have ever allowed against a Big Ten opponent. Imagine how good the Badgers could be if they would stop shooting themselves in the foot. They turned over the ball four times against Iowa, three of those being interceptions by quarterback Alex Hornibrook. Wisconsin is getting to the title game on the strength of their defense and their rushing attack.
