College Football Upset Alert 2017: UAB putting Florida Gators on alert
By Shane Lunnen
Vanderbilt hosts Missouri in their home finale. The Commodores are attempting to win their first SEC game of the season. The Tigers are 10-point favorites.
Missouri has turned their season around after starting 1-5. Since then the Tigers have won four straight including last week’s blowout of Tennessee, which finally cost Butch Jones his job. The Tigers’ season has been a little bit of Jekyll and Hyde. Their defense gives up a lot of yards at 426 per game. Allowing 32 points per game is also not good.
Vanderbilt on the other hand has not played well. The Commodores have lost five out of their last six and they have not really been close in any of them except for the loss to South Carolina. They allowed a bad Kentucky offense last week score 44 points on them.
With the teams appearing to be heading in opposite directions, it does not seem right to be picking an upset here. However look at recent history. Last season, Vanderbilt was in the exact position they are now at 4-6, needing two wins to go bowling. They caught fire and won their last two. Lightning strikes twice as the Commodores upset Missouri and then beat a really bad Tennessee team next week to gain bowl eligibility.
