LSU Football: 3 takeaways from win over Tennessee in Week 12
3. It’s time for Jon Gruden in Knoxville
While Tennessee put up a better effort than most likely expected out of them, the Vols still lost to another SEC foe. No one expects Brady Hoke to be the permanent option for the Vols, but a good finish to the year would be a welcome site.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden was spotted in Knoxville on Nov. 18, with former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning. That does not help the rumors swirling right now about Gruden joining the Vols.
Gruden has reportedly said that he is not interested in the Tennessee gig and prefers to stay retired from coaching. However, Tennessee is a premier job still in the college football world and has the resources necessary to attract someone the level of Gruden.
Seeing Gruden join the college ranks would be the most high profile hire since Jim Harbaugh joined the Michigan Wolverines. The turnaround of the program might be just as quick as Harbaugh’s when he joined the Wolverines as well.
