College Football Playoff Rankings Projections 2017: Top 25 for Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Playing its first game under interim head coach Brady Hoke, Tennessee had no chance against No. 20 LSU. The Tigers struggled to pass the ball, as Danny Etling threw for only 81 yards. But they still ran away with a 30-10 victory on Saturday at Neyland Stadium to continue the heartache in Knoxville in a forgettable season.
The victory was fueled by LSU running back Derrius Guice, who finished the day with 97 rushing yards and a touchdown. Etling added 42 yards and a score on the ground to supplement his limited passing production, while Darrel Williams chipped in 68 yards and two scores on just seven carries. Tennessee racked up nearly 250 passing yards but nevertheless fell by 20.
The win will keep LSU in the College Football Playoff rankings another week, and they could push up a spot or two into the high teens after moving to 8-3. A New Year’s Six bowl berth could still be in the cards if the Tigers take down Texas A&M in the regular-season finale.
