1994 SEC Championship

Florida Gators def. Alabama Crimson Tide, 24-23
Dec. 3, 1994

After being played for two years at Legion Field in Birmingham, this was the first SEC Championship to be played at the Georgia Dome, pitting No. 3 Alabama against No. 6 Florida.

The game was everything fans expected, with the two teams trading blows all night. Then, early in the 4th quarter, the Crimson Tide took a 23-17 (opting for the PAT instead of a 2-point conversion) lead and handed the game over to their defense to lock down.

With only six minutes left in the game, the Gators converted a fourth-and-one to keep a crucial drive going. On the next series of downs, Florida head coach Steve Spurrier went to the bag of trickeration, calling a double pass to get the Gators down to the two-yard line. The Gators punched the ball in and took the final 24-23 lead with the extra point.
