With Thanksgiving 2017 right around the corner, it’s time to be thankful. What should all college football fans be thankful for this year?

Thanksgiving is the time of year to stuff your face with turkey, potatoes, corn, ham and many other filling foods. It’s also a time to give thanks for the friends and family you have been blessed with in your life. But one thing that has always gone with the Thanksgiving holiday is football. The two go together like peanut butter a jelly and have created some fantastic traditions in all levels of the sport.

In the ranks of college football, many traditions have come and gone that have occurred during the Thanksgiving holiday. Texas vs. Texas A&M was always a staple for fans on Thanksgiving night as the old Southwest/Big 12 conference foes dueled it out until the Aggies left for the SEC in 2012.

Another lesser known tradition is the “Turkey Day Classic”, the annual match up between Southwestern Athletic Conference schools, one of the best traditions among America’s Historically Black Universities. The match up has occurred every year since 1924 with most years including Alabama State and Tuskegee University as the showcased game.

But let’s looks at college football as whole. We have a lot in this amazing sport to be thankful for, but here are the 10 that are the most important.
