7. Corso Headgear Selection

It has become a staple on Saturday morning’s during the college football season, but ESPN’s College Gameday, is still as popular as ever thanks to the annual headgear selection by analyst Lee Corso.

Corso began the tradition in 1995 when College Gameday was in Columbus, Ohio as Ohio State was taking on Penn State. The story goes as Corso asked co-analyst Kirk Herbstreit’s wife (Ex-head cheerleader) if he could have permission to don the famous Brutus the Buckeye headgear as he picked the game. The rest, as they say, is history.

Corso’s record since then is 200-105, which puts him at .655 winning percentage in 22 years of doing the show. From picking the usually suspects such as his reliance on USC, Ohio State and other powerhouse programs, to his dressing as Ben Franklin and having a Bison named after him in Fargo. Corso has built a legacy in broadcasting that will be hard to match, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
