College Football Playoff 2017: Projected Top 4 for Week 13
By Jesse Smith
2. Miami
Fresh off of beating down Notre Dame on national TV, Miami welcomed Virginia into their home and for three quarters it seemed as if the Hurricanes were having a hangover effect from the huge win a week earlier. They were down 14 points multiple times against Virginia, snapping out of the fog in the second half and didn’t look back to win 44-28.
The Hurricanes allowed the Cavaliers to pass on them for yards and four touchdowns. Virginia’s quarterback Kurt Benkert got it done against the secondary despite being a victim of a pick six during the contest. They only allowed 55 yards on the ground so it seems easy to see you have to be able to pass the ball to have a chance against Miami unless you just have an extra talented running game.
Quarterback back Malik Rosier had a solid game, but it was running back Travis Homer who stole the show with 96 yards on 17 carries, one touchdown and one fumble recovery (on special teams). Homer is making plays in all phases of the game.
They are the ACC Coastal champions so they just can’t have a slip up in Week 13.
