3. The rivalry is very much alive away from the football field

If you’re an Aggie, you know this quite well. The only place Texas refuses to play the Aggies is on the football field. They have faced off multiple times in multiple different sports since the conference split and that is just fine with covering the rivalry.

Remember the video above? Michael Barash’s walk off homer against the Longhorns two years ago? Man that was fun. These two programs have established a yearly baseball match up, they play in volleyball seemingly every year, the Aggies have knocked Longhorn softball out of the NCAAs two years running and they just played a charity basketball game.

The Longhorns and the Aggies are playing each other in almost every sport outside of football. Is it really worth fighting for a football match up when the rivalry is fulfilled away from the field itself? I am not so sure.
