4. Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech

When he was hired back in 2013, Kliff Kingsbury looked like a home run hire for Texas Tech. Kingsbury himself was a former star quarterback in Lubbock in the early days of Mike Leach’s tenure and held almost every passing record in school history until later surpassed by Graham Harrell. It appeared that Texas Tech was going to be back at the level they were under Mike Leach.

Unfortunately, this has been far from the case. Following an opening 8-5 campaign in 2013, Texas Tech has only been to a bowl once since then and is in danger of missing for the second year in a row. Kingsbury record since at an unimpressive 29-32 in his nearly five seasons in Lubbock, not the results those imagined when he was hired.

The Red Raider faithful is in luck however, as Texas Tech closes the regular season with a trip to Austin to face an inconsistent Texas team. The Longhorns have already sealed up a bowl berth and will not have as much at stake than Texas Tech and Kliff Kingsbury.
