3. Cal wins

There’s a reason that Jim Mora was relieved of his duties entering the Bruins final game of the season. The team he had assembled had several problems and the administration had lost confidence he was the one to get them over the hump. Mora or not, the problems aren’t going to disappear over a weekend.

Neither of these squads are good football teams. UCLA and Cal have a combined five conference wins. They’ve had their bright spots, but the defense has largely been lacking. It’s going to be a shootout with a potential bowl berth on the line.

UCLA’s best win of 2017 is either over Arizona or Arizona State. Neither is all that impressive. Cal crushed then-No. 8 Washington State 37-3. When it comes to big games the Bears have shown up at least once more than the Bruins.

Jedd Fisch, the interim coach taking over in his stead, will be in charge. The UCLA offensive coordinator will have his hands full against Cal. When in doubt, stick with the program under less turmoil, and that’s Cal.
